High Spot Review |
| Issues |
Substantial increase in volume of cases being handled - the case management software was struggling to handle the data volumes. Hardware purchased two years earlier was under configured and almost obsolete - the server hardware had limited expansion capabilities. The IT department were proposing extensive expenditure on additional hardware - but not clearly justifying or explaining their recommendations. Management were inclined to do nothing and continue with the existing configuration - however they wanted to know the risks involved with this option and whether there were any alternatives. |
| Outcome |
The high level review resulted in a plan of action for the Firm involving the clear identification of future requirements and likely business volumes along with a risk assessment and identification of likely order of costs and discussions with the application software authors and the need to undertake systems and database tuning. |
