Art Gallery

Background

Art gallery and registered charity facilitating regular and changing exhibitions of contemporary art. The Gallery was supported by a local council and was about to become independent following application to the Arts Council for a significant grant for future funding.

Project

High spot review.

Scale

1 location, 6 staff, £0.5m turnover

Scope of requirements

Accounting, mailing list, desktop and web publishing, office automation

Issues

Existing infrastructure was owned by the local council - infrastructure would need to be replaced once the gallery becomes independent.

Computer systems needed to be extended with links to the Gallery, shop and reception area - new applications such as EPOS and stock control are to be introduced.

Future IT components needed to be identified - in order to receive a grant from the Arts Council, an estimate of the likely order of costs involved in implementing new IT systems was required.

Staff had received little or no training on the use of IT facilities - urgent need for a training needs analysis exercise.

Summary

The High Spot Review resulted in the identification and estimation of the likely order of costs for the implementation of a new IT infrastructure and related applications and services. Estimates were provided for the following: hardware and communication infrastructure, application software, web site, training, implementation services and consultancy services.
