Background
Blick Group (now part of Stanley Security Solutions - Europe Limited) design, manufacture and service a range of security, communication and time management solutions. Products are sold either direct to end users or via dealers, can be purchased outright or via long-term rental and maintenance agreement. Existing systems based on IBM iSeries included a combination of packaged and in-house developed bespoke applications.
Establish the overall systems direction and develop an IT strategy responsive to business development plans.

Multiple Group companies, £65m+ turnover.
Scope of requirements
CRM, manufacturing, service management, costing, purchasing, logistics, finance and management & financial reporting.
Refocused business strategy - management required a review of existing systems to confirm that they were able to support the revised commercial strategy.
Need to replace Group Accounting software - the same packaged accounting software was being used across the various Group companies, however it was nearing the end of its useful life and was no longer supported.
Information held in many different places - resulting in difficulties in obtaining accurate and up to date management information.
Desire for improved access to information across Group companies - via use of comprehensive Business Intelligence tools.
Different requirements across Group companies - the operations of the various Group companies differed widely making the adoption of a common system unlikely.
High degree of in-house developed bespoke applications - for key manufacturing applications.
A business orientated IT strategy was produced outlining future systems options and the suggested approach to new systems implementation.
