Scope of requirements
Sales (including CRM, estimating and quotations, sales order processing, sales analysis, etc), logistics (including purchasing, stock, warehouse management, etc), manufacturing (including production planning, BOM, scheduling, etc) and finance & management reporting.
Schedules received from automotive customers - need to meet the requirement to receive customer schedules via EDI, email and fax and integrate into the scheduling system without the need to rekey the data.
Integration of shop floor weighing machines - to the stock control system.
Old legacy system - replacement of old legacy ERP software and inherent ways of working and data conversion issues.
Planned growth - need for systems to handle the anticipated future growth.
Ad hoc PC databases - need for more comprehensive data integration from all functional areas and from a common source.
Internal IT support - need to establish internal IT support requirements.
A business orientated IT strategy was produced defining the key role IT would play in the future of the business. Detailed functional requirements were determined for a manufacturing focused replacement ERP system. ITT prepared and sent to qualified suppliers. Following evaluation of supplier responses and detailed structured demonstrations the Company selected a packaged based ERP solution.
