Background

Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) provides mezzanine capital in Europe and Asia Pacific. It principally invests from its our own capital resources but also invests funds which it manages on behalf of a number of UK and international institutions. ICG has offices in London , Paris , Frankfurt , Hong Kong , Stockholm and Madrid .

ICG has provided mezzanine in support of all leading European private equity sponsors and has successfully raised Europe 's largest independent mezzanine fund (€1.5bn) investing in mezzanine opportunities throughout Europe .

Scope of requirements

Marketing and new business, portfolio management, fund administration, loan management, knowledge management, finance and human resources.

 

Issues

External pressures - to provide more comprehensive information about both front and back office activities

Islands of information - existing systems were not integrated resulting in duplication and re-keying of data.

Bespoke applications - key processing operations were being managed using a single user database application. 

Reliance on spreadsheets - spreadsheets were being used to duplicate information maintained in the bespoke database.

Limited management information - much manual effort was required to produce management and statistical reports.
Summary

Microguide assisted ICG establish its overall future business systems direction, develop a target systems structure responsive to its business development plans and proposed operational style and identify outline user requirements. This enabled ICG to move forward with a clearly focused software selection project knowing that the selection team had the buy-in and consensus of key personnel from all business units within the organisation.
