Scope of requirements Supply chain management, trade contractor purchase ordering, project financial management, cost ledger, sub-contractors ledger, purchase ledger, contract sales ledger, sales ledger, general ledger, fixed assets and business intelligence. |
Issues
Accounts software support - general dissatisfaction with support provided by existing supplier and the uncertainty regarding the long term future for the existing software. Anticipated
growth in the UK operation - the desire to continually achieve
operational efficiencies across the organisation and the recognition that
appropriate business systems are required to support the expanded
organisation. Appropriate
business systems - the desire for ISG’s business systems to reflect
a forward looking up to date enterprise able to make best use of available
technology. This would bring business systems inline with the current
activities of the business and enable ISG to be seen as a modern,
efficient, systems savvy
organisation by clients/competitors. Company-wide
view - the desire to take an overall Company-wide strategic view
bringing together the operational and financial requirements of all ISG
Divisions. Reporting
and visibility - desire for improved access to meaningful information
contained within the business systems via drill down facilities, standard
reports, comprehensive user defined reporting and the use of standard
Business Intelligence tools. This will empower users and enable more
informed business decisions.

Summary
Microguide assisted ISG to determine its
business systems strategy which subsequently led to select a new project
costing and accounting solution. ISG adopted the Microguide structured
software supplier selection process which includes prequalification of
potential solutions and suppliers, documentation of user requirements,
shortlisting suppliers, evaluating supplier proposals, arranging and
attending a series of focused demonstrations culminating in the selection
of a favoured solution and supplier.
“We
had already embarked on a software selection process but were having
difficulty differentiating the various solutions being considered.
Microguide forced us to step back and reconsider what we were trying to
achieve by helping us define a business systems strategy. Following the
definition of the business systems strategy they provided a framework for
a structured software selection process” |
