|
Background RVP Foods Ltd was formed following a management buyout from United Biscuits and is involved in the processing, freezing and sales of frozen green vegetables at the North Thoresby site, and the frozen ready meals at a factory in Fakenham. Sales are mainly to the major supermarkets. As a result of the management buyout RVP needed to come off the Group's systems and implement their own integrated system. |
||
Projects
IT strategy followed by definition and selection of a new applications across all functional areas. Scale 2 manufacturing locations, 500+ employees, £60m+ turnover. Scope of requirements Finance, logistics, manufacturing, EDI, comprehensive sales reporting, pallet control, load and despatch, recipe costing, bar-coded products, plant maintenance, human resources. |
Issues
Cease using Group supported systems - the Company had no idea of the scope of Group supported existing systems. Short timescales - short transition period to transfer from bureau use of Group systems to new systems. EDI links to supermarkets - EDI links to main supermarkets and third party distribution centre. IT manager required - RVP needed to recruit an IT manager. New application areas - function previously performed by the Group had to be brought in-house (eg. sales order processing, invoicing, sales ledger and sales reporting).
