Background

Strutt & Parker is one of the largest privately owned independent property firms in the UK with a network of 27 offices employing over 600 people. S&P operates in the commercial, residential and rural property sectors.

Projects

Definition of user requirements and selection of new accounting software for centralised accounts function.

Scale

600+ professional staff, 27 offices.

Scope of requirements

CRM, project costing, accounting ledgers, HR & Payroll.

Issues

Reorganisation – centralised accounts function providing a service to all 27 offices needing to produce timely accounting information accessible over the web to all offices.

Access to up to date management information - data was held in many different systems making access to consolidated information difficult and time consuming.

Desire for extended finance and user independence – enabling all offices to enter day to day transactions locally, with Head Office consolidating and reporting back information about office and Group performance on a timely basis all over the Web.

Outgrown existing accounts software – S&P had outgrown its existing accounts software which required much duplication of data entry to provide any meaningful data.

Need for appropriate systems - desire for business systems to be inline with the activities of the business and to be seen as a modern, efficient, systems savvy organisation by clients and competitors.

Fully integrated business systems - requiring the entry of key information only once with information accessible by all office over the web.

Summary

User requirements were documented and a RFI issued to small group of potential suppliers. Supplier proposals were evaluated and short-listed for software demonstration and final system selection.

“Microguide’s knowledge of the most appropriate accounting software solutions in the marketplace enabled us to focus and evaluate a small number of products.  What impressed me from the start was the immediate rapport established with the Microguide team. We welcomed their down to earth pragmatic approach and particularly valued the disciplined approach to systems specification and selection”.
Gerry Wicks, Financial Controller
